On Sept. 29, Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey’s reelection campaign received a total of $5,000 from the five committees, the most allowed under law. FPL and parent company NextEra Energy, Inc. gave about $2 million altogether to the five committees since 2019.

Dailey at the time accused Dozier of gaslighting the community "on an issue that does not exist" and challenged anyone to find a connection between FPL and Tallahassee elections. Judging by their contributions, however, they are now.
