Florida’s population is projected to grow by 6 million over the next 12 years, which would lead to approximately 800 (!) new liquor licenses. #floridahospitality flchamber.com/did-you-know-t…

Wasn’t there a shoot-out last week between Killearn residents and a smash-grab ring? Maybe Tallahassee City Commissioners should be focused on what led to that rather than last call?

After spending millions in state and federal races over the last several election cycles, Florida Power & Light has now become involved in local Tallahassee elections. Read the rest of this thread to find out how.

Florida Power & Light, Florida Crystals, Disney and other big corporations provide most of the funding for five political committees run by Associated Industries of Florida (AIF). This story by Jason Garcia released in April unpacks it well. jasongarcia.substack.com/p/the-voice-of…

On Sept. 29, Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey’s reelection campaign received a total of $5,000 from the five committees, the most allowed under law. FPL and parent company NextEra Energy, Inc. gave about $2 million altogether to the five committees since 2019.

Dailey at the time accused Dozier of gaslighting the community "on an issue that does not exist" and challenged anyone to find a connection between FPL and Tallahassee elections. Judging by their contributions, however, they are now.

#HB961, going to @FLGovScott, is a win for FL businesses & consumers. This bill saves FL bars & restaurants, many of which are small businesses, money, & improves consumers’ experience by allowing them to enjoy beer the way it was meant to be served. #sayfie #flapol

The quota system is the foundation of Florida's alcohol laws. The liquor license brokers don't want you to read this article. tampabay.com/news/business/…
