Never think you can't make a difference...🌳🌍 Marie-Louise sponsored this beautiful tree in her street. She also tends to the rain-garden 💧🌻 it's planted in. Our actions create ripples that lead others to act. Green your world👉 Trees for Streets 🌳

Neglected fact: getting more housebuilding is about more than planning reform. Here’s an important graph for understanding that: Developers have consistently under-delivered on their planning permissions for years. 🧵 on why and why it matters

Miyawaki trial plot at Cornwallis Park, Maidstone. Despite being planted only last April, into compacted closely-mown grass, saplings are thriving & it is already a habitat for Hop-garden Earwig, Speckled Wood & Jersey Tiger.🌳maidstonebc Kent Wildlife Trust WoodlandTrust BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland

I've just signed this, and would urge everybody to do so. We don't need to spray poisons in our streets and parks. Pls RT pesticidecollaboration.org/go-pesticide-f… #GoPesticideFree PAN UK

We’re in the midst of a heatwave, please give your nearest NEW street tree a drink 🌳💧💚 Extra watering from caring local residents can make all the difference to how well a tree develops, and sometimes whether it survives. 👉Spread the word #WateringWednesday 💧💧🌳🌳

Why London needs a micro de-paving revolution 🧵 We need a scheme to de-pave & green small (less than 50 sq. metres) currently impermeable areas in London. This is illustrated by some of the *100’s* of such areas I saw on a 20 min cycle through one part of the city in LB Newham

A study i missed recently that is well worth looking at. I quit alcohol in 2018 and a major contribution to that decision was excellent articles in ⁦Mother Jones⁩ by ⁦Stephanie Mencimer⁩ about alcohol industry lies re moderate drinking. The Guardian theguardian.com/society/articl…

Bumblebees can only fly for 40 minutes between feeds. So growing just one nectar-rich plant could be the pit-stop that saves a bee. Helping bees, butterflies, moths, and other pollinators is also a great way to connect with nature! More ideas: bit.ly/44lesqB

Don’t drive in East Greenwich tonight. A102 queuing back beyond Sun the the Sands. Appears to be closure on Woolwich Road. Westcombe Park gridlocked. Closures affecting M25 and Dartford crossing. 😳

Unfortunately TfL are still not listening and rarely make announcements on the train as it pulls into Cutty Sark DLR. I recently spoke to an operator to ask if he’d been briefed. It was a yes but he shrugged his shoulders, had forgotten. An automated announcement is best.

JNe Londonist Precisely! It offers ‘a new way to cross the Thames’ at a time when Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan wants us to use active travel yet no bikes allowed. As for pollution, this will come from 1000s extra vehicles predicted by TfL including bigger, heavier HGVs. Stop Silvertown Tunnel Traffic and Pollution LDNMayor Environment
