The NWC are deeply saddened following the death of sister Leanne Carr on March 29th. Leanne was a crew commander at knightswood, Glasgow. She will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with Leanne’s family, friends and colleagues at this sad time.

Last year, The University of Central Lancashire - UCLan research commissioned by the FBU found that firefighters face an increased risk of cancer.

This has now been named one of the most downloaded cancer research papers by Scientific Reports in 2023.

The data is there. Now we need government and employer action.

Discrimination, harassment and bullying have no place in the fire service.

It’s our service, our union and our duty to transform our service. Equality matters.
