In the counties of Torit & Magwi, #SouthSudan, Food and Agriculture Organization conducted key informant interviews with agro-dealers & government stakeholders to gather vital insights on #SeedSystems 💬📝 The activity is part of #FAO’s efforts to assess the impact of its #Resilience interventions.

Focus group discussions were held with communities benefiting from #FAO’s Resilient Agricultural #LivelihoodsProject, to understand their capacities & perceptions of #Resilience related to #SeedSystems. Crucial insights on challenges & opportunities were also gathered 💡

The New Life Farmer’s Group near Torit, #SouthSudan, is a #Women-led seed producers' association 👩‍🌾 With 30 members, they’ve been trained in #SeedProduction & are now growing groundnuts 🥜 They plan to store & sell some seeds & process the rest into peanut butter.

🌳 The Magwi Central #Tree Nursery is thriving! In 2024, 12 500 fruit and timber #Seedlings, including mango, moringa, and teak, have been distributed to 180 members of #Agroforestry groups. By the year’s end, over 40 000 seedlings will help establish orchards and woodlots 🥭🪵

The newly built Multi-purpose Community #Farmer Centre in Torit offers training for farmers, demo plots for hands-on learning, & space for storing #Seeds & tools 🏡👨‍🌾 A vital hub for promoting good agricultural practices at the community level!
