Hi Cotswold Canals Connected
When the Stroudwater was first built, a short length at Whitminster used the River Frome. Later, silt problems with the river prompted the digging of the canal by the side of the river, a section that is now lost. Correct? If, so when was that section dug?

This is an excellent book that vividly brings to life the rich tapestry of Gloucester's fascinating history. Highly recommend.

Excellent book covering a period in the 2,000-year development of Gloucester that, unlike previous ages, was a good deal more sensitive to the city's heritage, nowhere more so perhaps than in the regeneration of the redundant, increasingly derelict wasteland that was the Docks.

Huge flock of small birds colonised the tree I just moored beneath and serenaded me with a charming symphony, which was lovely. Unfortunately, birdsong was not the only thing to come out of them, and now my boat has a polka dot paint job thing going on, which is not so lovely πŸ™„

Big skies over the Shropshire Llangollen, but enough solar this morning to put some juice back into the batteries without any of that infernal internal combustion malarkey.

The reward after a miserable morning of wind and rain, a bruiser of a sunset viewed from the towpath of the Llangollen Canal in the Shropshire boonies, where mobile internet is, curiously, excellent.
