Pandemic UI programs should not have ended until we had gained back ALL of the jobs lost. We are still short 3.9 MILLION jobs. #ExtendPUA #FixUI

Another caveat to the drop in Black women's unemployment: Black women's labor force participation fell between Oct and Nov, and, in fact, has been falling since August. While employment did increase, the drop in unemployment (if sustained) happened in part b/c participation fell.

We're heading into this winter Omicron wave without expanded unemployment benefits or any guarantee of paid sick leave. PPP is over. Rental assistance has stopped flowing in some states and there's no federal eviction moratorium. Basically, we're going in without a safety net.

Yike! If you lost work and March 2020 and went back to work on July 2021, you would be ineligible for state #UI if you lost work and filed in the 4th quarter of 2021 due to Omicron closures #Unemployment

They won't lock down or shut down precisely because they don't want to talk about the nothing that government would do for workers in that situation. AND YET restaurants, shows, & businesses are still having to close their doors. & there's no help for the affected workers.

@WHCOS This is not the flex the White House is pretending it is. Millions of Americans are no longer ELIGIBLE to file for unemployment because of expired pandemic programs and maxed out weeks. Businesses are closing again & there's zero safety net for workers.

What was that bragging we heard about "unexpectedly low new UI claims" numbers? Guess who else can't file for UI? People who left their jobs, even if they left for safety or health reasons during a pandemic. #ExtendPUA #ExtendUI #FixUI
