A high intensity first 30 mins saw Newport County AFC impose themselves on Orient out of possession. Going man for man in high areas and dictating the direction of play from restarts. Creating situations, overloading wide areas, and covering ground efficiently. 😍
Newport County AFC didn't see much of the ball today, but the possession they did have was in Northampton's half. The "3-4-2" is operating a bit like a 3-4-3, Evans and Bogle are split wide, and Waite is the Raumdeuter.
Scot Bennett put in a brilliant shift yesterday. On the ball, off the ball, in transition, he was able to affect the game. Looking very disciplined in a double pivot with @nmoriahwelsh , good distances, working in tandem, going strong 💪
I haven't watched much Swansea City AFC lately, but this stuck in my mind. Synchronized movement to try and drag the wide center backs out when Darling has the ball, to create a 1v1 and allow space in behind. The defenders didn't bite 1st time but it stuck in my mind. I liked it 🤷♂️
Thoroughly impressed with Stockport County today, decent football & were able to adapt throughout the game. Less impressed by Newport, our central midfielders must be frustrated getting bypassed continuously in favour of this direct game. Great to see Aaron Lewis start &⚽
What I repeatedly saw from Stockport County Saturday: CMs stretch our CMs VERY wide. Wide CBs hug touchline (Hussey provides cross 👀) Madden drops deep to link, drags PF and CMs infield. Creates space for Sarcevic & Collar. Overload created out wide. STs, CMs, WBs, ALL in box 👏
Are Mickey Demetriou hand-corners one the most dangerous set-piece deliveries in the top 5 English tiers? Most definitely 🚀
Its no real surprise that we have one of the lowest open play xG in Sky Bet League Two Cross locations from the right are suboptimal, continuously hitting early crosses.

(Prior to the sending off) AFC Wimbledon have a clear route toward goal, no secrets here👇 I'm curious about the positions of Waite & Moriah-Welsh in relation to the front two (Evans & Zanzala), there is a clear structure here, but very little success in the final third today.
Think we called this in Pt1 of our Christmas Special with Chris Kirwan and Martyn Phillips. Time to roll the dice and have another go in the loan market, let’s hope we can come up with another gem or two. #ncafc 🧡🖤
There were a lot of very good individual moments last night on and off the ball, but this is where Newport County AFC controlled the game for me, moments like these.
