The fact that the Leafs forced a game 7 without Matthews for two games, Nylander for three games, a potentially a hurt Marner etc. says a lot more about the Bruins being not very good vs. the Leafs being very good.

I think out of all the possible scenarios in the first round, Connor Hellebuyck allowing about 5 goals against in 5 games (he allowed 24 in 5 games, technically) is the absolute last thing that I would have ever guessed.

We talked about this before the playoffs started, but when Dallas is playing well, they probably have the best defensive skater group in the league. Even when Oettinger looks shaky, the skaters do a great job keeping shot quality low and limiting dangerous attempts.

I’ve watched so much bad hockey the past 6 months watching the Sharks that I’m genuinely shocked playoff teams are this good. They can complete like 4, maybe even 5 passes in a row without tripping. It’s nuts.

Ryan Suter and Zach Parise’s matching 13-year contracts technically end after next year. It’s pretty funny to think they’re both still playing in the league and could realistically play next season too. Not sure how many people thought that would be the case when they signed.
