Everyone should read this book.
To explain why (the neurodivergence, alternative communication, openness of sexuality, respect for & cherishing of individuality) and do it justice, would be impossible.
Do yourself a favour & read it - but prepare to cry happy tears from page 1!

So that's the last teaching day of 2023 & I. Am. Done.
This last year as a teacher has really taken its toll on my mental & physical health.
So I'm taking time this holiday to completely disconnect from everything education connected or education adjacent.
So, see you in 2024 💜

Today's a really hard day to be a #Queer teacher, to be a #LGBTQ ally in education and to be someone who grew up under the shadow of Section 28, seeing the hands of the clock turn back and fearing for the children who will (potentially) go through what we did. My heart is heavy.

Just finished yet another series by the wonderful N.R. Walker and am in bits, again. God, the humanity and passion and depth in those books. And the way they speak to your soul, well, Spencer speaks to mine, anyway. I wish you could read books for the first time more than once 🥺
