Have been taking a look at some data surrounding the omicron variant, and I'm pretty concerned what I've found. [PRELIMINARY DATA, NOT PEER-REVIEWED] (1/53)

Pretty big milestone today. This morning I sat down and began writing the first sentence of my PhD dissertation. Very satisfied with my progress! I didn't make it to the period, but I'm WELL PAST the comma. #PhD #AcademicTwitter

Seinfeld Today: Elaine spends six hours in a testing line, Jerry finds his new girlfriend less attractive with a mask off, George attends an anti-vax rally so he can get "super-immunity," and Kramer hoards rapid tests.

Admin: No, we won't survey students about the return to campus plans or course formats. Their input is too unreliable. Also admin: No, you can't have student evaluations of your courses be optional this year despite everything that's going on. Student feedback is essential.

I'm almost alarmed at how frequently students upload the wrong file when submitting assignments. I'm definitely alarmed when the file they upload is untitled(57).docx #AcademicTwitter

The CDC now says that due to breakthrough infections and natural immunity there is no reason to treat vaccinated and unvaccinated people differently. Twitter banned users who pointed this out last year. Never forget that people were censored for saying what the CDC is saying now.

This piece is a bit more personal and was very hard for me to write. It is on how Stanford University, my home, failed to live up to its ideals during the pandemic. tabletmag.com/sections/arts-…

Is this the future of small mammal surveys? "AHDriFT system surveys provided 1.5–5 times more observations per dollar spent and required 90% less time in the field than Sherman trap surveys" #Mammalogy meridian.allenpress.com/jfwm/article/d…

The ambiguity of "tropics" has always bugged me considering I primarily work on mammals in the mountains of Ethiopia. Odd that my answer to the question "do you work in the tropics?" would be "...hard to say" Way to tackle it @kjfeeley

This weekend I applied a linear mixed effects model that controlled for random and fixed effects to predict the association between explanatory and response variables across four mountain ranges. #selftaught using #Rstats

Confirmation bias gets all the headlines, but I think I actually battle falsification bias when I do science. **runs analysis -> results support hypothesis** "...naw, can't be... let's go back and tweak shit until the results are believable..."
