I suspect that this is one of the reasons they have trouble competing with SpaceX on cost. Only government contractors take apparent pride in how many states their suppliers are from, to impress congresspeople. Because that's why government space programs cost so much.

We've been infiltrated. Somehow, the Chinese have infiltrated western countries causing them to pass laws suppressing AI research, so that the only such research will be from China.

Either that, or people are idiots.
