Folks organizing on the left (call them/us progressives if you want) have been calling for & fighting for a political practice that sees those who are most vulnerable & marginalized & have the most to lose (& therefore the most to gain) as the central focus of our organizing.

This is the only way we win but a reminder: Liberals, who create an enemy out of the “right, are actually waging political warfare on those most negatively impacted by their liberal politics

(Being people who are economically disenfranchised, living outside of the rights of citizenship, experiencing the genocides perpetrated by American empire, racialized outside of the power-landscape of Whiteness, etc etc etc)

What we need is a political practice of community building, collective consciousness, & attention paid to the real victims of American empire. We aren’t free until everyone is free.

US elxn isn't in isolation - Trump, Bibi, Modi, Orbán, Meloni are tip of iceberg of growing fascism. Anti-migrant racism, wars of domination, transmisogyny, rising inflation are their glue. Defeating fascism requires defeating flaccid liberalism that keeps ceding ground to right.

Remember what Kwame Ture said "politics is every day”. The every day demands we build against and beyond liberalism, address people's material grievances, refuse to leave anyone behind in coalitional politics, and grapple seriously with growing entangled supremacist ideologies.

While the genocide of the Palestinians in Gaza continues unabated, conscientious citizens everywhere interrogate all aspects of the system that has allowed Israel's unlawful occupation to fester.

In the Cherokee story of how we received the gift of medicine, the people were abusing the animals--not acting in good relations--and the animals made the people sick, created disease. But the plants took pity and provided medicine--asking us to remember our relations.

It is not a story about love or even care. It is about the basic respect we afford to all beings and all forms of life. The sickness is ego. The sickness is capital. The sickness is race-ism. The sickness is greed. And the medicine is, as always: relations.
