Good thread here from Dylan, worth spotlighting this point: There's an argument that failing to tax unrealized capital gains is actually *bad* for business/innovation. This is why some conservative economists (including Trump/Reagan adviser Art Laffer) have supported the policy

A frustratingly large number of people are reading this tweet and concluding, "He must be arguing that we should keep housing unaffordable to prop up home values; I should express outrage about that imaginary claim, instead of reading the piece" (which argues the exact opposite)

The United States doing away with a supermajority requirement for bills in the Senate — while retaining three more veto points on all legislation than every parliamentary democracy in the world — is not “+ majoritarian mob rule”

Every RW influencer on Twitter decided in the last 24 hours to spotlight this clip and lie about it. Walz was talking about his congressional visit to Afghanistan, which is why he refers to the troops as "they" and not "we." Everyone at the American Legion understood him.

James Surowiecki (@jamessurowiecki) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is a concerted effort by high-follower accounts to convince their followers that this clip is an example of Walz lying about his service, when it was in fact him straightforwardly talking about his visit to Afghanistan. It's willfully deceptive propaganda.

Dems are raining cash on Kamala. Yet the GOP committee for electing state legislators has badly outraised its Democratic counterpart. Libs must realize that state-level races have high stakes and low costs. Your dollar will buy more progress down ballot vox.com/politics/36987…

You mean the government would no longer subsidize projects with one hand while blocking their development with the other? What a concept. city-journal.org/article/cost-d…

Denouncing Churchill for being a white supremacist, apologist for historic genocides -- and denouncing Churchill for fighting against the perpetrators of a contemporary genocide -- do not strike me as equally illiberal positions

Exit polling has huge sampling bias issues (because it selects for the people willing to chat with the pollsters after voting) and is generally not a reliable indicator, regardless of the inclusion of non-in-person methods.

Matt is correct and also these benchmark employment revisions have yet to feed into current productivity estimates. They will only be incorporated early next year Productivity growth is even higher than it currently looks!

Libs propose child care subsidies and then a certain kind of family-values conservative objects that this is unfair to family caregivers and people kind of squawk at each other as if there is an impasse but you really can give benefits to child care users and home caregivers.
