40 years ago, I ported Jet Set Willy to the C64.

Today, I pondered on what it was that made 1984 to 1986 the most magical years of my time in video games. Here are ten reasons.

(Tomorrow I’ll talk about how I bring the spirit of that time back, 40 years on.)

A common argument against the east coast metric signature (−+++) is that timelike magnitudes are negative. This problem evaporates in 5D projective space-time exterior algebra because the weight component of a homogeneous magnitude cancels the minus sign. Projected magnitudes…

Once you've got horizon mapping implemented, it's very easy to use, and it can make a huge difference. This wall is rendered on a flat plane. The technique is fully described in FGED2.

A) Yes
B) Myself and others have been sounding this alarm for over a decade
C) Many factors are at play, including an improperly trained workforce, monopoly business effects, and widespread adoption and standardization of low-quality practices, languages, platforms and protocols

This video contains an amusing repeat of all the difficulties I ran into when I tried getting existing font rendering techniques to work well in 2016.
