“the black elite, particularly the middle-class black elite, is very prone to compromise and forging alliances with the powers that be. King warned of the road where middle-class black comfort smothers concern for justice.”

Can’t even think of the last time I had a Trump tweet, but I’m just hear to say that this whole “Trump doesn’t have a policy plan” doesn’t align well with the “we must stop project 25” talk. But I stopped trying to make sense of mainstream politics for a while now.

We helped to established a Youth Empowerment Commission in California (comprised solely of youth between 16-24) to help shape state-level decisions impacting youth. We're now excited to share that the first meeting will take place on 9/19. More here: youthempowerment.ca.gov/2024/08/27/09-…

Anytime someone starts quoting US intelligence to disparage you, they have lost their mind. The same US intelligence that called Mandela a terrorist said King was controlled by the Kremlin & murdered Patrice Lumumba. They are not a source of truth they are a tool of empire

Of course the WH is hosting a “Black Excellence Brunch.” Black Excellence is an elitist, capitalist, & assimilationist framework that doesn’t challenge the status quo. Nixon uplifted Black capitalism and the DNC Black Excellence, all that so people don’t turn to Black Power.

Some folks don’t mind a little pandering as long as they get to dance, feel good and be in proximity to those in power. And proximity isn’t power. We need a cultural revolution as well.

Finally building community in Long Beach and LA. 😭 It’s hard af to make friends in your 30’s, especially if you’re shy and introverted, but I’ve been pushing myself to get out a little more and it’s paying off.

Reducing my analysis that has been formed through direct experience & studying our history to “hating” & “crashing out” just speaks to how unserious some folks are. With these folks, you just gotta hit them w/ the “no doubt” & keep it pushing. There’s work to be done offline.

“It is crystal clear that the society is capable of and willing to reward those individuals who do not forcefully condemn it—to reward them with prestige, status and material benefits. But these crumbs of co-optation should be rejected.“

We are disappointed #CALeg chose not to pass AB 2441, which would've been a step forward in addressing the systemic racism and inequities in our school policing system. California's school policing laws don't help our students or promote their safety and wellbeing.

A must read from the San Francisco Chronicle: "This is the secret system that covers up police misconduct — and ensures problem officers can get hired again" sfchronicle.com/projects/2024/…

We spoke Black Men Build event in Los Angeles this weekend. This nationwide effort creates a space for Black men and boys to BE: be ourselves, be in conversation, be challenged, be educated, be together.

In 2024, slavery is still alive in California in the form of involuntary servitude. The CA Constitution has language that forces incarcerated people to work for the government and corporations under threat of punishment. #YesOnProp6 #InvoluntaryServitudeIsSlavery

Police-presence and surveillance is definitely increasing in Long Beach and I’m sure it’s happening in cities across the country. This struggle is entering a new phase in 2025, and cities like Atlanta are giving glimpses of what we should all prepare for.
