In 2021 Texas SB 8 passed, banning abortion except “when deemed necessary in medical emergencies.” Now a JAMA Pediatrics study shows that in 2021–22, infant deaths in Texas increased by 12.9%, infant mortality by 8.3%, and neonatal mortality by 5.8%. This is ideology in action.
