Following a report of low flows on the River Frome #Stroud our Environment Agency Midlands staff attended site to investigate. Persons unknown had blocked the flow using rocks so these were quickly removed by our #Gloucestershire field team, restoring the flow and protecting the #ecology

With the hot & dry weather, we're seeing streams, like the Ampney Brook in Glos. dry up/reduce in oxygen. Stu from our fisheries team talks about relocating fish from the brook to the safety of the Thames. If you see struggling fish, please report it to us on 0800 807060.

Due to the hot and dry weather, we’ve responded to a fish in distress incident at Holden Lane Pool in Stoke. The low oxygen levels have been stablised through use of an aerator and we are continuing to monitor. If you see fish in distress call our 24/7 hotline on 0800 607080.

During drought, we're monitoring Dowdeswell reservoir’s low water levels which may drop further this week. While it’s for flood storage, not public water supply, fish could be affected so our fisheries team is ready to respond. Read more: bit.ly/3INlorf

In Gloucestershire, low water levels in Dowdeswell reservoir could cause excess silt to move into the River Chelt, bringing harm to fish. Our officers have installed sediment mats on the river to capture excess silt and protect aquatic life. Read more: bit.ly/3INlorf
