During our testing, we noticed that the base would slip off the wheels after a few minutes of testing. After finding a good location, we added some wheels to the side to prevent the slipping.

We're finally thinking of changing the prototype to a more compact model. The first image shows the large base we're using right now to hold the motors, and the second image is the new compact model that will attach directly to the side of the wheelchair. #stemsos

It was an incredible experience to present our projects to the North Texas Harmony Principals. We were able to show our projects and hopefully inspire and show the true potential of engineering that students are capable of!

We finally added the new addition to the wheelchair! We now no longer have to worry about attaching and detaching a large structure, and can simply lift the motors up and down when necessary. This was a big game changer and a time saver for the project.

This is a project that took several months to complete. This is only one view of the project at work, and all the amazing parts of the project take places in the code and how the motors work. Stay tuned as we keep you updated on how those work!

Here’s our “keypad” project. This is another handshake, as the Microbit sends a radio signal to another microbit, which communicates an electric on off signal to the v5, which controls the motor that opens the door. But this is one of the 3 ways to open the door, so stay tuned!

This is a addition to the wheelchair that has a joystick. The joystick is an alternative to the head control, and allows the electric wheelchair to have a purpose beyond just helping quadriplegics, and simply offers a cheaper electric wheelchair than many commercial ones.

The wheelchair has remote capabilities too as another alternative for control. This opens up possibilities of an autonomous wheelchair, perhaps it could park itself in the corner as you sit down on a chair and then drive up to you when you’re ready to use it.

One of our early versions of the blinds project that was controlled with a dial. This was immediately after we hooked up the motors, and as you can see the project has come quite a way. From switching the from V4 to V5, 3D printed motor cases, touch screen, and remote control.

The incredible power of the Vex V5 touchscreen and display capabilities. The entire original code was made by Talha without any template, and this is only a fraction of what the V5 can do.

Here is one of our first projects that inspired Kirubel and I to do more Engineering projects. This is a conveyer belt that simulates manufacturing and is loaded into a vehicle.

Our engineering team, Kaizen, has started working with an Onigiri restaurant to speed up their onigiri making process! The restaurant got recognized by fox 4, which did a report on them and featured the Kaizen team and their prototype! #stemsos
