🫀🧑‍🔬💪Really excited to share that my first *cardiac* research project was accepted to Circulation Research! We study relaxed permeabilized papillary muscles before and after rapid 50% I-band titin cleavage with TEV protease. Below are the major findings.

So excited to share this work is now published in Nature Communications. It was great to work with Anthony Hessel, PhD throughout the process, and I look forward to sharing MyBP-C cleavage structural changes in active skeletal muscle in the next one!

Just wrapping up an amazing few days with the Samantha Harris lab! A little celebration of our new Nat Comm paper but already scheming for the bombshell follow-up paper being prepared by Nichlas M Engels. See you all at the myofilament meeting!

And we are three days in! So many pappilary muscles. Progress ok! Now a quick shower, pack a bag, prep a few more samples, and then straight to the plane for the Hamburg run at DESY (Deutsch)! See you soon Michel Kühn!

Day 10/11. Heavy lifting back at NSLSII at BNL. Some hiccups on the way: RIP special ABs at Newark customs. But lots of success on several other projects! Khoi D. Nguyen, Nichlas M Engels, Rachel Sadler, and Brad Palmer Crew working at max capacity! Final 40 hour push starts now.

Day 12, 230am. It is Finished! We are out of samples! The monster beamline run is over! What a ride! So many things accomplished over 2 continents and beamlines. Mouse hearts, human hearts, various skeletal muscles, cardiac strips, zebra fish, MARP proteins...214 hours of work.

Nichlas M Engels puts in the big effort at Advanced Photon Source Argonne National Lab and NSLSII Brookhaven Lab during monster data collection runs. Head down / stay positive. He w/ Samantha Harris lab are uncovering the roll of MyBPC to the regulation of force production. Loads more projects incoming!

As #BPS2025 nears, we wanted to highlight a recent publication in biophysics! 🔬 Anthony Hessel, PhD et al. investigated the role of MyBP-C in muscle 💪contraction and regulation with small-angle X-ray diffraction and #AuroraScientific 1600A system. doi.org/10.1038/s41467…

It was very nice to welcome our muscle users Anthony Hessel, PhD Michel Kühn Vivek Jani back after two years for Advanced Photon Source upgrade. BioCAT remains the state-of-art facility for muscle X-ray diffraction. Proposal for next run due in two days!
