Today marks the National Day of Economic Abuse Awareness - #16DaysofActivism. According to the Canadian Center For Women’s Empowerment (CCFWE), 96% of victims experience #EconomicAbuse. Without access to money, many are unable to plan or even imagine leaving an abusive relationship. #EndGBV

Intimate Partner Violence deaths are a public safety issue. Children, family members, friends are too often caught in the violence, and each is a loss to the entire community #EndGBV. Our province needs to establish an IPV Death Review Committee #CallItFemicide.

The issue of #GBV is devastatingly larger than we think. In 2023, there were 288 cases (per 100,000 population) of IPV reported to police in BC. The devastating truth is that these numbers are higher as less than 1/3 of victims report to the police. #16DaysOfActivism2024
