The question of the “bus stop”....with seating. Hmm. I think I would find the concept of a bus stop in an acute ward completely disorientating! #rcpeStAs18

And indeed, there is no evidence or evaluation that suggests a bus stop in a ward is a good idea! On the other hand, seating areas and “rummage boxes” do have some evidence to support. Hand rails too to promote mobility and scheduled activities are good. #rcpeStAs18

Dementia friendly ward. We have a new single rooms hospital. Why do we still use alarms that beep incessantly drive the patient to distraction and are unnoticed by staff in the quiet corridor outside? #rcpeStAs18

#rcpeStAs18 dementia friendly ward: may link to tech lecture later. Can we get iv pumps with alarms in the corridor or a light at the nurses pod?

Behind falls alarms the next most dreaded sound on the ward for me is the Jeremy Kyle show...This must cause delirium daily #rcpeStAs18

Maybe we should talk about “cognitive spectrum disorder” rather than badging things too quickly as delirium or dementia. Emma Reynish challenges us to think differently & to consider potential interventions. #bgsconf

Any #geriatricians who have gained insight into the symptomatology of older patients with #covid19 ? I would expect #falls, #delirium, acute functional decline, worsening of chronic conditions - at least in poeple with #frailty #WDAD2020
