I spent the last week attending my first in-person scientific conference (not hosted at Vanderbilt). While I had heard fantastic things about Gordon Research Conferences, I wasn't prepared for the amazing science and networking this experience provided. Hope to see you all again in 2 years!

My second first-author paper has officially been published in Journal of Molecular Endocrinology! The paper investigates how flux through different G6P pathways influence each other and suggests that G6PC2 inhibitors would not influence glucocorticoid signaling. doi.org/10.1530/JME-23…

Grad School Wrapped 2023

Join us in two weeks as Emily Hawes (Emily Hawes), a graduate student in the lab of Richard O'Brien, presents her dissertation work on the "Regulation of Glucose-6-Phosphatase Catalytic Subunit 2 (G6PC2) Expression and Activity!"

Returning to work today as Dr. Emily Hawes instead of as a PhD candidate. I am so thankful for everyone I got to work with throughout this process and am excited to start this next stage of my career!
