Agriculture is science and experiments in ag are nothing new. Here is a picture of a field of soybeans that have been drilled in rows for a comparative test dating all the way back to 1917 (Arlington, VA). #science #experimentation #agriculture

Happy Fancy Friday! As the sun was rising this AM, I was able to carve out a little time to read more of this little book on Marshall McCluhan's 1964 work, "The Medium is the Message." #fancyfriday #communication #themediumisthemessage [Full text here: bit.ly/3l5E8C7]

On Co-dependent Reasoning. GE crops will be essential to increased on-farm productivity which will be dependent on advances in science & tech. which will be dependent on trust in those advancements which will be dependent on proper science communication... #sciencecommunication

In graduate school I read this textbook from cover to cover. It is a gold mine of information, much of which is still relevant today with the exception of climate change––an ever-changing global phenomenon in need of constant documentation.

Just finished listening to Max Boykoff present on creatively communicating to connect people with new ideas and new ways of thinking. So many things resounded with me, but I will leave you with, "Create spaces for people to be a part of change."

Success in today’s market relies on more than just a good harvest, it relies on bringing value to farmers and stakeholders across the value chain. Much of this value stems from checkoff funded research. #research #agriculture #innovation

Often, the biggest barrier to understanding scientific concepts is the fear of asking questions. Every day, I diagram things things out and ask A LOT of questions. I don’t always have the answers either but someone else might! #sciencecommunication #learningscience #askquestions

Agree with every point, these span more than just conservation research and highlight valuable core principles for achieving #researchimpact

Profound changes need to occur in the agricultural system in order to address on-farm issues like insects, pathogens, weeds, drought, floods, & erosion. Reducing environmental impact through incorporating principles of ecology & biotech will be key to the future. #ClimateCrisis

Sometimes, process is more important than the outcome. It is through process that the senses are engaged and exploration and discovery are enabled. I encourage you to pay attention to and appreciate the unintended products of process. #process #science #art #discovery

TODAY! Delighted to work with Emily D., @DrEleniBickell, and Alexa Lamm on a multi sectoral / interdisciplinary symposium on empowering women’s voices in climate change. Interesting topic and I look forward to collaborating with these women again soon! SRA - Society for Risk Analysis
