Let no one believe the Lord was afraid for Himself. Let us stand in awe of the cup which He drank, all the way to the Cross and death. This is the source of the healing that we experience in the Holy Unction, which–mercifully in the form of olive oil–is the source of our healing.

The challenge of Holy Week is to recognize in this Bridegroom the God Who loves us just as we are. It is hard for us to admit that His humiliation, His torture, and His death were accomplished for our sake. He meets us in our darkest moments to reveal our true selves.

As we enter Holy Week and the mystery of our salvation in Christ, let us bond in spirit with one another and support everyone’s journey with our Lord through His Passion to the Cross, Death and Burial, so that we may arrive at His Glorious Resurrection in unity of heart and mind.

In this Holy Week, the Lord wills to die to free us from death. The voice of the Lord is calling your name, just like Lazarus, to set you free. Listen for His voice. Quiet your hearts and minds, and come to the Church, where you hear the echoes of His Message of love and truth.

It was my honor to welcome the Secretary General of KKE Dimitris Koutsoumpas to our Archdiocese. I wished him steadfastness as he works towards Greece’s progress, honoring his priest grandfather who sacrificed himself fighting the Nazi occupiers in 1944.

Celebrating #EarthDay must be more than performative: forests burn, lakes dry up, rains lessen, pollution worsens, species vanish. #ClimateChange is real, and failing to act is a sin and a crime against our children.

Raising the Blue and White Ensign of Greece and Cyprus reminds all of us that the struggle to defend freedom is never complete. We raise it with pride and exultation, for we know that it represents the blood and toil of our ancestors. (With Mayor Eric Adams)

As we recite the 4th Stanza of Salutations to the All-Holy Theotokos, we cry to her in our hour of greatest need. The Akathist Hymn is more than her praises, or the story of her Annunciation and the Nativity of our Lord. It is a plea for help in the face of danger and difficulty.
