Pat Hughes’ calls of… 1. Carson Kelly’s 3-run homer to make it 11-10 in the 8th. 2. Kyle Tucker’s go-ahead 2-run blast to make it 12-11. Enjoy!

The way that Pope Francis genuinely sought out, encountered, and loved those who were suffering and marginalized will forever move me. It was central to who he was, and it was profoundly Christ-like. What a beautiful example he set for us. Rest in Peace, Holy Father.

Kara Beaty, a client of Notre Dame Law School Exoneration Justice Clinic, was exonerated on April 17. Beaty’s wrongful conviction for unlawfully causing the death of a motorcyclist arose from a June 2020 collision between Beaty’s vehicle and a motorcyclist. Pat Hughes. One of one. 1. Miguel Amaya’s game-tying home run with two outs in the ninth. 2. Ian Happ’s walk-off single in the 10th (incl. a great prediction from Ron Coomer). Audio via 670 The Score (SiriusXM)

Tomorrow, after several years of investigating, Kristine Phillips & IndyStar are releasing a series on the systemic misconduct that continues to stain Elkhart’s criminal justice system. Can’t wait to see what is unearthed.

A 3-year IndyStar investigation found members of a rogue group of police abused their power for years, cloaking themselves in a code of silence and operating with impunity. Inside the police department, they were known as the Wolverines. WATCH: indystar.com/videos/news/in…

The Wolverines' legacy and the broader culture of misconduct are seen in a series of troubling numbers. Six people have had their convictions overturned in Elkhart (pop. 53,000). It's the highest per capita in Indiana and 5th in the US infogram.com/lawless-exoner…

There was so much blood that Carolyn Jenks wasn't sure where exactly the young man was injured. But the rookie officer was certain: Demetrius Pegues did not fight as officers beat him. This is Part II of "Lawless," our investigation into the Wolverines: indystar.com/story/news/inv…

From 1986-1991, Steve Ambrose had nearly 20 misconduct allegations. 5 led to disciplinary actions, including a suspension for placing a foot on the head of a handcuffed man. In 1992, he became detective. Part III of our investigation into the Wolverines: indystar.com/story/news/inv…
