Of Note: Sacrificing the pursuit of academic and professional excellence on the altar of ideology is unparalleled in its perverse capacity to foster both educational mediocrity and personal fragility. Elizabeth Grace Matthew open.substack.com/pub/elizabethg…

The story of declining divorce isn’t primarily a story of stronger marriages, notes Leah Libresco Sargeant , but of a failure to make matches in the first place. ifstudies.org/blog/why-the-d…

My latest ⁦Law & Liberty⁩. Social norms & standards are tough to form, but all too easy to break. Maybe we should think about upholding them instead. Not out of reflexive traditionalism, but out of due regard for the dignity of others. lawliberty.org/after-civility/

The next step in reprotech is apparently not just to present IVF as an option but to stigmatize natural childbearing. A lot of folks will go along with that, b/c Americans have a hard time placing limits on consumer choice. But children are gifts, not products to be optimized.

It was a horrible ending. But it was also the laziest possible ending. Which is in keeping with SATC’s reflection of the times. Original ending of series & both movie endings were saccharine & strained but at least took action and a position! This was pathetic. Go to London &

Bravo in highlighting these eugenicist views, Ross Douthat. This tempting illusion of total control, cocksure lack of humility, & confusion between creature and creator is the premise for every dystopia. Think Jurassic Park, 1984, etc. Never goes as planned; never ends well.

Eugenics is now a permanent temptation. Every new generation will face it. Resisting it will be as difficult as it is important. It is critical that we understand children as *persons*, not products. We must not make them objects of manufature, subject to "quality controls."

It just keeps getting worse and worse if you watch the successive clips. She sits there smiling with zero understanding of his point. It is viscerally repulsive, and I want to get my family as far away from people like this as possible.

This is eugenics. Silicon Valley elite Noor Siddiqui claims only the “genetically privileged” deserve to have children naturally—while the rest should use technology to design or control their babies. Watch.

I think that doing genetic testing when already pregnant is worlds away from doing genetic testing to determine which embryo to become pregnant with and which to destroy. I have 4 kids and had genetic testing after learning of the pregnancies so that I would be prepared to care

Do you believe that laws against murder are “imposing your morality” on others? If not, let’s dispense with this stupid argument. She will now respond with “discarding an embryo isn’t murder” - completely sidestepping the point that it is also a “moral imposition” and the entire

Disagree with this framing—if anything, children in our era suffer far more from hovering, overpresent mothers (many of whom are working mothers themselves) than from dispassionate ones. I tend to take the sorts of social science studies cited here with a grain of salt: a lot of

The point is, not everyone has the same life, and we shouldn’t shoehorn women into a specific type of life. You don’t want to do it? Good for you! You want to do it? Good for you! Be girl’s girls! Not scolds!
