The last time @ongov waited to see how bad things would get before acting they ended up imposing capacity restrictions, delaying school reopening and surgeries were cancelled. Now is the time to : -promote & ramp up shot 3(&4) -encourage shot 1&2 for 5-11 -put masks back on

In new Science Magazine, there are papers from 4 groups describing (super cool) nuclear pore structures. I'd like to use this opportunity to state the obvious - that science is a rich get richer sport. 1/4

Safe abortion care is essential to protect the health of women & girls everywhere. Removing access to #abortion care will put more women & girls at risk of illegal abortions and the consequent safety issues that would bring bit.ly/3kA2Z1P

Wastewater in City of Ottawa rising rapidly...at this rate of increase we are going to reach the maximum measurement ever recorded in the city in a few weeks time. BA4/5 in wastewater now clearly the dominant variants. Ottawa Public Health COVIDPoops19

Now is exactly the time where Canada and provinces should be approaching companies with an offer. Co-invest with us into an SGC-like PPP and let's work together, in the open, to tackle our shared big scientific problems. ISED NSERC / CRSNG Genome Canada cbc.ca/news/business/…

Oil companies don’t (won’t) meet climate pledges. We have 3 strategic options. 1. Make, enforce tough regulations. (Politically impossible here). 2. Co-invest in a pre-competitive consortium and share R&D risk 3. Whine Only #2 will succeed. François-Philippe Champagne (FPC) 🇨🇦 cbc.ca/news/canada/ca…

PFAS are a serious problem for drinking water treatment. Removing them from drinking water ($$) just moves the problem elsewhere. We don’t want them in wastewater or sludge either. Sludge incineration generates greenhouse gases. Need source control.
