Some impressions from my visit to the palace of #Versailles . It was my first visit, and I learned about new aspects of French history and politics, and their impact on Europe and the world. Basically, the palace itself is an object of research.

Ich bin in einem deutschen Hotel in #Paris . Gefühlt sind alle deutschen Tourist:innen mit mir hier. Es erinnert mich daran, dass ich nach dem Abi in #Maastricht studiert habe. Die Idee hatten aber auch viele andere Studierende aus DE. Am Ende waren wir ständig zusammen.😅

Today, our thoughts are with the victims of the #Genocide against the Tutsi in #Rwanda and their families. Their fate is a constant reminder for us to #neveragain look away. #Kwibuka30 3/3

The #genocide was possible bc of the international community’s failure to act fast & decisively. Colonial powers bear responsibility for contributing to the artificial division between Hutu & Tutsi. This includes Germany, since Rwanda was part of German East Africa till 1918. 2/3

30 years ago, during barely 100 days, hundreds of thousands of women, men & children were killed by the then-government, Hutu-Militias like Interahamwe & machete-wielding mobs during the #Genocide against the Tutsi in #Rwanda . New mass graves are still being discovered today. 1/3
