Great to see cross-party support in the European Parliament for keeping the #RenewableEnergyDirective to renewable #hydrogen. 👇 This is key if the 🇪🇺 wants to become a global renewable hydrogen leader.

Welcome to the bi-weekly #CleanTechEU thread! Today we’re focusing on the role of #hydrogen in the EU’s energy transition and how scaling hydrogen production will be critical to achieve decarbonisation of hard-to-electrify sectors. weforum.org/agenda/2022/01…

Now more than ever, focusing #hydrogen deployment on #RenewableHydrogen is key. As the European Parliament discusses the revision of the #RenewableEnergyDirective industry groups, think tanks and NGOs agree that it should be kept to renewables. Letter below 📰👇

As the #hydrogen hype and "hydrogen-ready" trend in gas infrastructure are picking up pace in Europe, it is important to remember: 🔸H2 is not a transition silver bullet 🔸some sectors really need it unlike others 🔸it is not all green

This is a problem 👇 Hydrogen is not going to be a 1:1 replacement for fossil gas - so not all gas pipelines can be used for hydrogen. Independent, science-based infrastructure planning is needed to make sure hydrogen is deployed where it adds most value.
