Haven’t even taken a trip yet and Brussels Airlines has already moved my paid seat four times! Always splitting me from my group. Hoping that that’s not a preview of my flight to experience to see #MLB in London…

From today’s Miami Herald front page. But Florida Republicans would like for you to believe that the rain + flooding Floridians are experiencing is “normal” and just a part of “living in Florida.” Shame on y’all.

DeSantis’ job-killing veto of arts funding is devastating for the 600 programs that rely on these critical resources to remain open. This reckless decision isn’t just wrong, will cost taxpayers more in lost economic activity and tax revenue than it saves in this budget.

Equis’ Carlos Odio & Stephanie Valencia on immediate Latino analysis: “Blaming the outcome of this election on the Hispanic electorate is simply not supported by the electoral math in the Blue Wall states. To say otherwise is not only irresponsible, it is bad political analysis.”

There is too much hubris in our politics. Too many people who think they have all the answers. Let’s go out and have deep and thoughtful conversations with people. Listen to them. And then earnestly work to address their concerns and rebuild trust. 10/12

We do that while we seriously think through what it means to be “different.” To show that our defense of democracy/institutions doesn’t mean we defend what is clearly a broken politics that has contributed to the greatest amount of inequality in our nation’s history. 11/12

Personal Thought: Why did voter turnout decrease from 2020? Could it be b/c 57% of Americans live in states with restrictive civic engagement laws? Maybe this provides more details to that question - especially for funders trying to resource change. ncrp.org/2024/09/voting…

I remember running into similar Latinos in Florida in 2016 and were immediately sorry in 2017 and 2018 because they were the people he was talking about. Maybe it will be different this time. Maybe these Latinos will exert political pressure to stop the past from repeating.

Carlos Odio (@carlosodio) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Polls told us to expect vote-switching among Latinos. And indeed it seems key. But some of the persuasion effect comes out in turnout too. In most places, the drop in Dem votes was larger than the Trump hike, signs of both crossover & demoralized Ds. Voter files will help here.

You’re about to hear all kinds of things about a bill called the SAVE Act. Congressional Republicans are using it as a cover to take away voting rights from thousands of Americans—all while claiming it’s about stopping non-citizens from voting. 5 things to know 🧵👇🏻
