A1: Assessment is the engine that drives learning. Without it, we can't know whether students are learning during the lesson and we can't know how to support them when they need more support. Without assessment, we are just "information-deliverers" #ATAssessment

A2: Even if educators had the superpower to “just know” where students are in their learning, assessment done well invites students into the process. There power is not in the knowing. The power is the best next step toward mastery. #ATAssessment

To NOT address the design of curriculum and teaching because we fear that our colleagues are overwhelmed and we don’t want to hurt their feelings will only perpetuate the status quo. #RadicalCandor

A2: Clear procedures and routines for feedback help students focus on their current level of learning and next steps. Well written rubrics, unpacking rubrics and expectations help make the work efficient and easy to understand and take action. #ATAssessment

A3: We have 30 minutes of intervention/enrichment, 4 times a week, specifically for relearning and reassessing. Also available for conferencing with students, receiving and processing feedback. There are lots of opportunities to reflect on learning and next steps. #ATAssessment

Lately, I've been spending a lot of my time on UDL, digital accessibility, & accessible learning design. A lot of these are best practices ESL/EFL/Language Ts are incorporating in our classrooms that can benefit ALL learners! ⭐️Is your WELCOME MAT welcoming ALL learners?⭐️

“The most effective educators create places where learners want to be, not simply places they have to be. Caring about the social-emotional side of learning isn’t just a nice thing to do; it’s the only way to live.” #AuthenticEDU #SEL

Yes! As I've said many times, "punishing the absence of a skill hoping it will produce that skill is absurd." If you want to teach students to be responsible then TEACH them how to be more responsible. There is no excuse for distorting a student's achievement level. #ATAssessment

Okay, (A) the way this is laid out is just *chef's kiss,* and (B) I like this progression as a way to help students think about different ways to engage in discussions.

My late work policy this year is different than previous years because the issue is definitely worse than before. It required a bit more of a heavy hand than I usually take, so here's what I did and why it's helping. First off, I shared the data... 1/

It's that time of year when there is so much left to teach & so little energy left for teachers & students. Here are some of my favorite resources to help you through this last big stretch. Let's start with some Pear Deck Learning graphic organizers for history! docs.google.com/presentation/d…
