Great piece on the love of sport for Ireland’s definitive underdogs.

Wicklow has broken our hearts over the years and we define success by the possibility of a Leinster quarter final. We live in permanent hope. Best of luck Oisín!

A privilege to attend the passing out ceremony of our new Gardaí at Templemore today as Chair of the Policing Authority.

A proud day for the families of the 165 graduates.

Disgusting & outrageous to see Pearse McAuley’s coffin draped in the Tricolour. A plastic patriot whose actions repeatedly undermined the Irish flag.

McAuley was convicted of killing a servant of the Irish State, Det Garda Jerry McCabe, who earned the Tricolour on his coffin.

Democracy requires people with different political opinions with the courage to put their name on the ballot paper.

On this historic day as the Taoiseach resigns, it is worth reminding ourselves of the public service that all those in public life give.

A legend in his own lifetime. Our family, like many others around Carlow, West Wicklow and beyond, were the beneficiaries of his healing skills. The memories that Danoli gave us all! RIP Dan

My 4-year-old got upset today because she discovered that her thumb was not the same length as her finger.

She wanted a detailed answer as to why this was the case because she has a song about fingers and apparently this makes the song not work properly 🤷‍♀️

Brilliant finale to . The feminist theme came with an unexpected punch at the end, which was in keeping with the boxing finesse of one of the main characters.

A wordy investment of time. (Spoiler alert) Glad the polluted water wasn’t the answer (though kinda was)

Not sure watching a State funeral with two 4-years olds was a good idea.

So many questions.

Why is he asleep? Will he ever wake up? Why won’t he wake up? Where does he go? Why is everyone quiet? Will his family see him again? Why is his body worn out? Is he happy to be there?

Having considered the Policing, Security and Community Safety Bill 2023, the President has signed the Bill and it has accordingly become law.

A sense of dread all day, waiting to hear the names & ages of those who died in the car crash near the Fighting Cocks.

Three small villages in Carlow & West Wicklow waiting to bury their beloved young, all just beginning their journey into adulthood.

Devastating. Heartbreaking.

Remarkable interview by Arthur Gourounlian. What a journey. What a determined, positive attitude on life, despite the extraordinary challenges he faced as a refugee.

Super piece by Denis Walsh in The Irish Times on a great soldier of the GAA, Cian O’Neill.

Then, this quote in the middle of it floors you. As we approach a New Year, never underestimate the power of small acts of kindness, you never know what struggles people are going through.
