I strongly disagree with these remarks. They are empirically incorrect, but also illustrate a terrible reactionary tendency among some environmentalists that must be rejected.

One of the geographical areas which saw an amazing level of migrant solidarity mobilisation during the Rwanda Crisis (aka Operation Vector) was West Midlands. Solidarity doesn’t end with the end of the Rwanda plan. Join their ‘After Rwanda’ event on 6 August!

Does imprisonment help people get rid of their racism? It might temporarily stop them committing racist acts (outside prisons), sure. Then what’s next?

Suspending immigration reporting requirements while people are too terrified to leave their home, because they fear far right racist violence, is an easy thing to do. Remember COVID lockdown time?

I say this again. If you want to support migration justice and solidarity work by donating money, SUPPORT local grassroots groups. And remember, such local grassroots groups do not have a platform to say this, and I’m happy to say this again and again and again.
