It's gotten bad in Portland. Bicycling home tonight I had to defend myself. I'm not hurt. Just really shaken up. I have spray and and extendable baton on my riding belt. Dedicated bicyclists have a like utility belt. Mine carries these. I've been scared in the past.

A lot of bicyclists have been assaulted on the trails in Portland. I decided to start carrying personal protection items. And I'm glad I did. I'm not hurt and I still have my bicycle

01. Heidi👋 to who ever reads this. I am a devout bicyclist. I haven't had my drivers license in 20 years. If I can avoid public transportation I do. My wife and I moved to Portland 5 years ago. Main reason was because of the amazing bicycle culture.

02 Heidi👋 In the last 2 years I've witnessed the following transpire on the Springwater Corridor Trail. 2 sexual assaults, at least 2 fights every week. I've reported dead bodies, watched cars be stripped down. Rv's on fire.

03 Heidi👋 I've seen rats crawling on people too high to react and passed out. Burned campsite after the next. The border between Gresham and Portland is like a shanty town you'd see in a 3rd world country.

04 Heidi👋 In the last year I've had to defend myself twice on the Springwater Corridor Trail. There is no safe place to bicycle any more in Portland. The is a bipartisan social health problem. The Governor needs to declare A State Of Emergency Public Health Crisi

05 Heidi👋 These are human beings that are the most vulnerable of society and they are being ignored. Now this problem is a public health crisis and can no longer be ignored. Because these conditions spread disease the surrounding areas through vermin.
