Proud lab members! We congratulate our PI Elif Nur Fırat Karalar Elif Nur Firat-Karalar for receiving Sabri Ülker Science Award 🥇

We Elif Nur Firat-Karalar Caydasi Lab - Cell Cycle & Genome Stability would love to host the next #EMBOcentrosomes in İstanbul at Koc University. The campus is located on a beautiful hillside overlooking the Black Sea. There are direct flights from most countries to İstanbul.

It feels amazing to finally share that my first first-author paper is now online as a preprint! 🥳 biorxiv.org/content/10.110… This work is done when I was a master student in Elif Nur Firat-Karalar in collaboration with Jovana Deretic. Read below our main findings 👇

📄 ENKD1 is a centrosomal and ciliary microtubule-associated protein important for primary cilium content regulation ✏️ By Fatmanur Tiryaki, Jovana Deretic and Elif Nur Firat-Karalar Elif Nur Firat-Karalar Koç Üniversitesi 🔗 buff.ly/3c4rm71 #centrosome #ENKD1 #Hedgehogsignaling

The ciliopathy-linked protein CCDC66 is only known for its ciliary functions. A new study in #PLOSBiology reveals that CCDC66 also has extensive non-ciliary functions in regulating #mitosis and #cytokinesis Elif Nur Firat-Karalar plos.io/3yOwzY8

Today, Caydasi Lab - Cell Cycle & Genome Stability and I just submitted the application for the #Centrosomes2023 "Centrosomes in Development, Disease and Evolution" workshop that will take place in Istanbul between 26-29th September in 2023. Fingers crossed for a positive evaluation of our application to EMBO!

Our latest review article on navigating the biology of centriolar satellites is out in The FEBS Journal! It focuses on their diverse functions and mechanisms across cells, organisms and their links to disease. Congratulations Efe Begar&Ece! febs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/fe…

We are happy to contribute to a new paper by Oktay I. Kaplan, which generated the Ciliogenics database for predicting novel ciliary genes. Efe Begar used localization and loss-of-function experiments to validate new ciliary proteins in mammalian cells. Nucleic Acids Res
