Given our history, we of all people should understand the importance of intervening ‘left of boom’. 💥 Deter, detect & disrupt early. Lack of a parliamentary oversight committee for Intelligence & Security makes 🇮🇪 a significant outlier. This should be rectified in next Dáil.

This is a really clear argument from Edward Burke for reviewing & reforming Ireland's intelligence (and wider cyber) arrangements to improve national security. As he argues, the risks are all too foreseeable, which should concentrate minds/resolve on urgent progress.

I condemn the Israeli airstrike this morning on a «safe zone» in Khan Younis. All parties have an obligation to protect civilians in warfare. The presence of armed groups does not nullify the obligation to comply with international humanitarian law. The war must end.

5 years of research into the veterans who led loyalist gangs in Belfast in 1921/1922. In some ways they resembled Birmingham's 'Peaky Blinders' or Glasgow's 'Billy Boys'. Except they were more violent. Noel Doran The Irish News will speak at the No Alibis Bookstore launch. All welcome.

What a mess. “The United States may allow Ukraine to use British and French missiles but not its own longer-range weapons inside Russia, according to two sources familiar with discussions that have taken place.” thetimes.com/world/russia-u…
