New paper led by Paul Dufour where we quantify how often island endemic bird species originate from migratory drop-off 🏝️🦆🐦🪿🐦‍⬛

I've found it almost impossible to get an ecology paper through peer-review without comparing 50 different models using AIC. This paper is another nice example of why that's problematic.

Today, I presented the results of our meta-research study on the FAIRness of COVID-19-related research data at The Applied Biostatistics Association (TABA) knowledge sharing and networking event at Roche Canada.

Let’s not forget that doing simple analyses (e.g., calculating a mean difference) is usually fine and often is the most straight-forward way of answering your research question. Prioritize quality data over fancy models.

Advice to grad students: when you write a paper, use a gmail (or similar) for corresponding, instead of your institutional email, since institutional emails usually expire when you graduate. That way people interested in your paper can correspond with you.
