Here's my reply to the Jeremy Corbyn 'peace' op-ed in the The Guardian - the Labour left is at a crossroads just as in the 1930s... We're not going to stop totalitarian aggression with abstractions 👇🏽

We’re modernising the British Army 🇬🇧’s heavy artillery capability.

A 🇬🇧 🇩🇪 collaboration will see a 52-calibre artillery system known as Mobile Fires Platform (MFP) mark a step change towards a deeper industrial and wider defence relationship between the two nations.

Iran and Israel’s escalation of their armed conflict is a reminder of what can happen when adversaries do not understand each other. Understanding our adversaries plummets as battle lines harden. Breaking this cycle is essential, writes Suzanne Raine. rusi.org/explore-our-re…

It's 2024. Surely we don't have to still explain what submarines are...

Almost a decade later, I've still not still really made up mind whether he's personally simple-minded, or only interested in persuading people who are equally simple-minded. The answer is probably both.

Ed Arnold The Dissident Civil Servant Wouldn’t a new Trades Corps be a great way of improving the entire Defence estate while creating hundreds of new trade apprentices. Could be akin to US Corps of Engineers. Wouldn’t even have to be uniformed. Localised. Great offer to young people not wanting £70k uni debt.

Ed Arnold If these numbers are correct, the correct comparison might either be 'smallest since it lost the American War of Independence' or 'smallest since Napoleon was a toddler'. And even that ignores East India Company troops… daysackmedia.co.uk/resources/the-…

So People were not at the heart of DCPR23? You can easily spend the money on sorting out the appalling accommodation, infrastructure and pay related problems in the military, stemming the tide of leavers and therefore having an effective fighting force to go in the new kit.

One of my least liked phrases atm 'British Army smaller than since Napoleon' (should be Napoleonic wars...). totally meaningless and overused comparsion.

Led me to think, what unit size of the current army could have won Waterloo, only with organic assets?
A company?
