Today, our #119 king penguins contributed to the teaching of alternative methods in animal experimentation, as part of the great ExpeFS training organized by Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle Pierre-Yves Henry. formation.mnhn.fr/formations/uti…

Freshly published in Behaviour: "Sharing your snack: unusual observation of a chick–chick feeding occurrence in colonial king penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus)" brill.com/view/journals/… IPHC Strasbourg @_IPEV @AntoineStier Bize Pierre Physiol_Evol_Behv @INEE_CNRS

The summer season is now over in Crozet archipelago. Camille Lemonnier, F. Bertile & M. Hoareau are back on the boat heading towards La Réunion. Marine Montblanc is staying to assess winter survival, performance & physiology of king penguin chicks Let's prepare the 2023-24 season!

🤩A nice picture in Le Figaro to illustrate our research in Antarctica🐧🇦🇶 @_IPEV in collaboration with CEBC/ChizéLab ECONERGY_#119 Ecophy IPHC Strasbourg supported by ISblue UBO - Univ. Brest at LEMAR How do penguins dissipate heat during breeding season ?🐧🔥

While part of the ECONERGY_#119 team (inc Norith Eckbo) is now safely back in France, the work is continuing through the austral winter with these cute little chicks thanks to Elsa Marçon @_IPEV Service Civique and the help she gets from other people at the station Terres australes et antarctiques françaises (TAAF) !

For the World Penguin Day, the #119 team IPHC Strasbourg CNRS Écologie & Environnement is happy to share with the world this picture of an albinos king penguin chick. It was taken in Crozet Archipelago Terres australes et antarctiques françaises (TAAF) Baie du Marin colony, our study site since the 80's. © @_IPEV - Samuel Laporte

Now Elsa (3rd from right) is 'alone' to take care of all the #119 king 🐧 chicks during austral winter, after they have been monitored with love by the 'summer team' (left to right: Norith Eckbo , Samuel Laporte, Elsa Marçon, Zohria-Lys Guillerm). Stay tuned for winter updates!

The Econergy team is well represented at the French National Committee for Arctic and Antarctic Research, with JP Robin being in the organizing team, Noiret Aude Camille Lemonnier @AntoineStier/Agnès Lewden presenting their research, and JP + @AntoineStier giving a public lecture tonight!
