Q7 - Students learn best when they feel personally connected to what they are learning. By incorporating the backgrounds of students into lessons you are giving them an engaging, authentic and meaningful learning experience

A6 - My clincal teaching hours this semester took place in a 3rd grade classroom that was very diverse. To incorporate this, my coporating teacher ensured the backgrounds of each student was taught throughout the year and she continued this into online learning!

The first mini lesson I ever did on my own was about empathy and diversity. I did the lesson in both a 2nd and 3rd grade classroom using the book “Cholcate Milk, Por Favor” by Maria Dismondy to teach students about what it means to be a friend!

A5 - Empathy allows students to have a view on how others may be feeling, especially during this time. Sympathizing with the feelings of others is an important lesson not only for now, but for every day in the classroom. Kindness goes a long way!

A4 - Empathy is one of the most powerful tools we have! Showing students you care during this time is so incredibly important. This is a new experience for everyone so we all just need to have patience, be kind, and try our best

A2 - I think it is important to have alernatives for students that don’t souly require things like an internet connection or additional materials. When completing my teaching hours my placement classroom made “support packets” for students without an online connection

Dogs really become part of the family and their loss is just as hard as a humans ❤️ With Bentley passing away suddenly this week, Eva’s kindergarten teacher sent her this in the mail so she would have a dog to go to bed with at night still. Her kindness is so amazing

An incredible children’s author that will live on forever through his stories ❤️ I have many fond memories from when I was young reading his books with my family. Rest In Peace Tomie dePaola, thank you for your legacy

I am curious to see how New Jersey will respond due to our close distance to the epicenter of New York. As much as I would love to go visit my 3rd grade placement, I hope we make a decision that is smart and safe!

A great read on how you can connect with your students during this time. They miss you just as much as you miss them!

Love to see teachers working together to make sure they are all prepared to teach their students. This is a very useful thread if you are looking for needed teacher materials for your own remote learning

This weeks EdPuzzle showed a great video about how a teacher used online global collaboration in her classroom! I love how authentic she made the experience by including communication with peers from Ireland. A very cool experience the students will always remember!
