I've just been advised that emergency works by Thames Water have started on West Street opposite the Marquis of Granby requiring a road closure, end date estimated as Fri 3 May. If driving, best to avoid that end of the town. 🚧

Sadly lessons don't seemed to have been learned in regard to grass cutting. A missed deadline for verge cutting in Ewell Court has seen residents out doing the job for SCC. Apparently the contractor was overly ambitious on the timescales for completion.

It was great to see Epsom and Ewell Borough Council grounds maintenance team members Peter and Phil out in Epsom, planting the flower troughs to create a great floral display in the town centre for the coming months. Thanks for all your work throughout the year.

It is good to see that, at last, (& after a prompt from me 🙂) the metal fencing around the much needed parking spaces in Scotts Farm Road has been taken down. Apparently, SCC was waiting for Belway the housing developer, to relocate some services under a new footpath.

If you or, someone you know, needs help in working out their eligibility for the Winter Fuel Payment, or if they are not, but will be struggling to pay energy bills this Winter, Citizens Advice Epsom and Ewell can help.  Here's what CAEE suggests they can do:

Excellent news that RA Cllr Steven McCormick & I have finally got SCC to take the problems of pavement parking by delivery motorcyclists on Epsom High St seriously. SCC will now engage with the issue on the pro-active lines we have suggested incl. talking with delivery companies

It's not often I see how the @highwaysSurrey funding I have to allocate to small repairs is spent as it happens. But today I spoke with the Ringway works crew undertaking footway patching outside St John's Church in Station Approach Auriol, doing a great job. Well done Guys👍

I’m at the SCC council meeting to discuss Cllr Tim Oliver’s plan to apply for unitary status & an elected Surrey Mayor without a Council vote or consulting residents. His supporters also want to cancel the May 2025 election. I support none of this. Residents must have their say.

Eber Kington (@eberakington) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is becoming repetitive & depressing. Apparently the May 2025 SCC elections should be cancelled because it may see new councillors elected when the current ones are best placed to make decisions on the issues. What! Let the people decide in May if we remain relevant & trusted

I visited the excellently refurbished Epsom Library today. Great new facilities with an enhanced self-service area. I met Georgina, Gemma & Katie, who were very helpful, heard the fun being had at Rhyme Time, & borrowed some crime fiction novels. It's well worth a visit. 📕💻
