Our flight dynamics team has analysed ESA's Juice mission's new trajectory following last night's gravity assist at the Moon. Their conclusion? It was a flawless manoeuvre! No fine-tuning or correction is needed before tonight's Earth flyby. 🥳

The #ESAJuice lunar-Earth flyby is the first ever of its kind, but why are we doing it? Because it will: 🎯 bring Juice one step closer to Jupiter ⛽️ save a lot of propellant 🔎 ensure extra science at Ganymede 📍 line Juice up for a Venus flyby Read more 👉

🌏🛰️ Earlier today, #ESAJuice turned to point its science instruments towards Earth, preparing itself for a closest approach to our home planet at 23:56 CEST tonight.

We're keeping a close eye on you, ESA's Juice mission! Our deep space antenna in New Norcia is halfway through a ten-hour session tracking Juice across the cloudy Australian sky. The spacecraft is racing from the Moon towards Earth for the second act of its lunar-Earth flyby tonight.

🔛 #ESAJuice instruments are now back on, ready to collect data. This will give engineers the chance to calibrate the instruments, smooth out any remaining issues, and who knows, they may even make some surprising scientific discoveries.

#ESAJuice is now closer to Earth than satellites in geostationary orbit. Our Space Debris Office has assessed Juice's trajectory for any possible close encounters with space debris or active satellites and confirmed that Juice's path tonight is clear.

🌏🛰️ At this time we expect #ESAJuice to have reached closest approach to Earth, at just 6840 km. We will receive confirmation tomorrow morning, when communication is resumed with the spacecraft. Stay tuned for updates in the morning 👋

During this week's lunar-Earth flyby, #ESAJuice's Navigation Camera (NavCam) was tested out in space for the first time. Though NavCam was actually designed to help Juice steer around Ganymede, Europa and Callisto, these images aren't bad either 😍 More 👉 esa.int/Science_Explor…

Nobody will remember: - Juice passed 750 km above the Moon - Juice zipped by at 8.4 km/s relative to Earth - the flyby saved about 100–150 kg of fuel People will remember: - they saw the Moon images live 😎 - Earth, the photobomber 🌏 - the selfies Juice took 🛰️🤳

Listen to #ESAJuice’s flyby of Earth! Yes, there are no soundwaves in space, but there are plenty of other kinds of waves! Listen to the radio wave environment around Earth thanks to data turned into an audio soundtrack 👇 esa.int/ESA_Multimedia…
