I know everyone anxiously wants to know that Damar Hamlin is ok. And secondly to understand what happened. But the public constantly getting tweets and stories about this mans status isn’t right. We have a right to health privacy and the media refuses to respect that.

I know its the system we are in now in EM but not matching your spots as a PD has got to lead to blaming yourself. It really has me thinking about how candidates who don’t match must feel. I’ll never look at the match the same again after this year regardless of what happens.

One factor lost in last years match where EM programs statistically all matched way down to the end of their lists (or didnt match) is how much time was wasted scoring apps and making a rank list.

Bc if you match at the bottom, none of the evaluation process mattered; the result would have been the same if you just blindly randomized the list. Thats an insane amount of hours that essentially made no difference at all in the outcome.

Yearly reminder; you don’t need to move programs up who tell you they are ranking you high just to “guarantee a match”. Thats not how the match works at all. Programs can use this misunderstanding of the match to get you to rank them higher. Rank programs how you want them.

If I have to tell you two things about ROL that covers it. - Rank a program based on your preference. Don't worry about how program may rank you or competitiveness of program. - Submit and certify ROL before deadline
