Abdirahman, a five-year-old child, who is blind comes from a poor family living in an IDP camp in Dayniile District of Mogadishu, Somalia. Despite his circumstances, he expressed his desire for education. Abdirahman resides with his grandmother, since his mother was divorced.

POLICY BRIEFING

On 31st March 2024, EFASOM members came into a meeting to develop a 1-page policy briefing based on a KAP survey, by EFASOM in March 2024. The study revealed that almost 70% of children in IDPs camps at the age between 6 and 14, do not go to school.

EFASOM conducted a comprehensive training on Feb 14-18 covering topics that aimed improving staff's proficiency in project management, proposal writing, reporting, financing, procurement and the PSEA; It had a positive impact on aligning staff closely with organizational goals.

Today EFASOM and Iftin Foundation concluded a 2-day training workshop on education financing observatory techniques on 30-31 January, 2024 at 8am-3pm in Mogadishu. Somalia. A number of 29 out of 30 trainees of the CSOs actors and the coalition members were awarded certificates.

EFASOM conducted their 18th annual meeting in Mogadishu on 28-29Jan2024. Members got engaged to participate in stakeholder meetings to improve accessibility; to advancing equality in education; 2023 past performance and the plan of action 2024; and reviewed their Constitution.
