A fantastic week in sunny Seville SETAC Europe Conference. Great to have the opportunity to present my PhD project, catch up with the ECORISC CDT gang and learn a lot from the 100s of talks/posters! Thanks to Doctoral Academy for supporting my attendance.

Attended my first SETAC conference in #Seville where I presented the results from the first chapter of my PhD! Seville was an incredibly vibrant city with lots to discover in its alleyways and colourful corners. Sunny days and scientific gatherings are always rewarding #SETAC2024

George and I had a long but productive day sampling along the Humber and the different rivers feeding into the estuary.

Today we collected samples from the Humber as part of the UN Ocean Decade Global Estuaries Monitoring Project. These samples will now be shipped to City University in Hong Kong to be analysed for pharmaceuticals.

I’ve been up to something very different to my PhD for the last couple of months. In June I started a 3-month long internship with Defra UK , investigating the potential impacts on the marine environment from rocket launch activity 🚀 🧵below

It’s been a great experience so far, working with a lovely team and getting to speak to many external stakeholders. Last week I had the pleasure of attending Farnborough International Airshow which was beyond cool.

We have all been working hard today at the ECORISC CDT data challenge event. This afternoon we took some time out to walk to Ludd's church and the Wincle Brewery.

The ECORISC CDT data challenge ends with great presentations from the teams. Topics include: an assessment of impacts of highway runoff; a national assessment of the environmental risks of hormones; and a study into temporal and spatial differences in antidepressant usage.
