‘When children repeat patterns of behaviour this is known as schematic play. Theorists and educationalists have identified many types of schemas that children will often display.’ (RtA, Pg.34) How do you support schematic play in your setting? #BeingMe

This is an absolute must-read by the brilliant @DamsonEd! Some of us have been trying to make these points for a long while, especially about reading being more than decoding, and meaning being more than words in isolation from text.

EAS Early Years We don’t have a maths area in our nursery- we have opportunities across all areas of provision, but we do have maths learning zones in our Reception classes to make sure we can purposefully revisit, practise and consolidate maths concepts through play.

Please can I take your order? If you are feeling thirsty why not pop into REB for a milkshake, tea or hot chocolate? 🌟☕️

I’m over on bluesky - helenlyndon.bsky.social - wondering how many of the #earlyyears crew are over there? I know I can’t change the world but I can make the best possible ethical choices…

Excellent example of noticing, and responding. What did you analyse from your observations in terms of learning? Opportunities for literacy? Numeracy? Really love to know more!

Our artwork is inspired by the illustrations in the story ‘The Rainbow Fish’ that we shared during Anti-Bullying Week. The children were fascinated by the sparkly scales so we explored this further 💫

The heavy rains that have fallen in recent weeks in the Namibia Desert in Africa have caused one of the most spectacular natural phenomena, the flowering of millions of lilies that for tens of kilometers have covered the sandy soil that has dried completely for three years.

Can we take a moment to admire the extraordinary attention to detail in the costuming for #WolfHall from the incredible designer Joanna Eatwell? A flawless interpretation of Jane Seymour’s bonnet and gown from the Whitehall Mural 🙌
