Parking disruption at Dudley Archives There will be no car parking at Dudley Archives and Local History Centre in Tipton Road from Thursday 17 July to Wednesday 23 July inclusive, due to essential work being carried out by the National Grid. The centre will be open as normal.

To mark #BlackCountryDay, we are sharing a recent accession from Dudley Museum's Civic Collection! This Royal Charter for the Formation of the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley, 1974, merged the existing Dudley County Borough with the municipal boroughs of Halesowen and Stourbridge.

Access to the Dudley Archives is now back to normal. The parking restrictions have been removed as from today, Tuesday 22nd July.

We are pleased to announce that following a recent Archive Service Accreditation Panel, the UK Archive Service Accreditation Committee has awarded Dudley Archives and Local History Service with Accredited Status for the second time.

The Dudley Hippodrome opened in December 1938 and continued as a variety theatre until 1964. The cover is from c1950 (p/3022), but the programme is from a Gala performance in October 1945 (BK 01277). #EYAHumour
