We propose methods to (i) identify the full effects of country-specific policies in the gravity model and (ii) estimate trade elasticities without tariff or price data. A true pleasure to work with Mario and the young talents Angelos Theodorakopoulos and Rebecca Freeman. Thanks! Gravity rules💪
What a great collaboration between fellows in our Center Drexel LeBow and economists at wiiw and Universität Bayreuth to create such a useful public good.
It was a true pleasure and a privilege to deliver a keynote on “#Sanctions with Gravitas” at the XXVII Applied Economics Meeting. Great to see old friends and many smart and ambitious young researchers. Thanks, ALDE, Facultad de Economía y Empresa UMU & Universidad Murcia for having me! Gravity rules 💪
📢NEW DATA! Happy to share the new release of the International Trade and Production Database for Estimation - ITPD-E-R03. Thanks to my co-authors Mario Larch & Serge Shikher and to the USITC! For details: ideas.repec.org/p/drx/wpaper/2… Enjoy the data and have a great summer!
🚨🚨In a new working paper, Federico Carril, Jordi Paniagua, and Marta Suarez-Varela construct a dataset on food crises' severity, intensity, and causes. Then they use the data to demonstrate that food crises increase forced international migration. ideas.repec.org/p/drx/wpaper/2…
Happy to see our survey on #sanctions with Gabriel Felbermayr, Cliff Morgan, and Costas Syropoulos published at the Annual Review of Economics. go.shr.lc/3Rtj9dP
Arne, Fernando (Fernando Rios-Avila (~ ‾⌣‾)~), and I are happy to share the updated version of the “jwdid” command for heterogeneity-robust estimations with non-linear outcomes and high-dimensional fixed effects, along with the corresponding paper. We hope it is useful. ideas.repec.org/p/drx/wpaper/2…
Submission deadline for this PEDL young scholars workshop (to take place the day before the Oct 24-25 International Growth Centre/Yale Economic Growth Center Firms/Trade/Development conference) is Sept 7 (soon!). For researchers post-PhD but untenured (or <=8 years out). Hope to see many of you there.
A series of great workshops indeed! We will soon announce the amazing lineup that we have for the Fall term and you are welcome to attend. Thanks Ohyun (Ohyun Kwon (權五顯)) for the hard work on this!
