When you think about Northern Lights, 99.9999% of those pics are taken by long exposure cameras. IF we catch a glimpse tonight, to the human eye it would look like a faint hue of green on the northern horizon. Regardless this is the best chance the Bay Area has had in years

Sunspot causing all of the solar storminess and aurora potential is so big you can safely see it using your eclipse glasses (if the sun is out where you are) in the sun's southwestern hemisphere. This is known as active region 3664.
