Reposting to see if anyone else has noticed this? When academics write about say disability, they know they should cite scholars in that field. The same for ethnicity. But when it comes to class I don’t see the work of scholars in working class studies being cited so routinely.

Why do left movements continue to ignore class politics?

I wonder if others feel the same way: UK academia is weirdly ani-intellectual. I had a good academic career in UK, and left 2 years ago, ended up, happily, in Finland . I did all my degrees in the UK, and got to SL. And yet....

Quick reminder - if you are going to talk about class in academia, make sure you cite research by working class academics (WCAs), and not just general research on class. Research by and with WCAs is the *only* way to represent the issue

Looking through job adverts for post-PhD jobs and came across a “non-stipendiary research fellowship” at Oxford University.

In 2024, how is this acceptable that you are advertising jobs that require a PhD - but do not pay a salary? Academia is really an elites games, isn’t it?

Working-class academics need to work together.
